On February 9, we took a ferry across the Cook Strait from Wellington to Picton. We had a nice lunch in Picton and then headed off to Nelson, both very nice, quaint towns.

After lunch, we saw a couple of hitch hikers with a "Nelson" sign. Since we were already heading there, we (Paul) decided we should give them a ride. I was slightly worried that we'd be hijacked but they were a couple of kids - just out of high school from Israel - who are traveling for the next 4 months. It was flattering when they asked if we were on break from University.
We dropped Corinne and Adi off at the iSite (tourism information center) and checked into our room. After resting a bit, we took a nice walk around town (the Marina Walk), grabbed dinner at The Free House (a bar inside an old church) and called it a night since we had an early pick up for a day at Abel Tasman National Park.
