Random Shots of the Week - New Zealand (2/3-2/9)

Paul "pretending" to pee at Wai-O-Tapu

Paul admiring the airplane at McDonald's

Paul is impressed with this old car named "Kev"

Yes, I couldn't resist - AGAIN
While we walked along the Tongariro Crossing, we passed through this area marked "Dead Here" - comforting...

There's a handle bar above the pee trough in the men's bathroom...

If you drink then drive you're a bloody criminal

Dimock...the death touch (you have to be a Bloodsport fan)

Mexican Hat for only $4.99 but apparently New Zealand is on sale for $2.99
Paul is pointing to the Dominion Observatory at the Wellington Botanic Garden

Paul asked this guy what the capitol of Thailand was...

Under Queen Elizabeth II Drive (Highway 6)...Paul was too tall

Apparently you're not allowed to consume alcohol in the middle of the street

Picton and Nelson

On February 9, we took a ferry across the Cook Strait from Wellington to Picton. We had a nice lunch in Picton and then headed off to Nelson, both very nice, quaint towns.

On the Bluebridge ferry for almost 4 hours - I couldn't really enjoy the nice view since I was trying not to feel sick

Picton - a view of  Queen Charlotte Sound

After lunch, we saw a couple of hitch hikers with a "Nelson" sign. Since we were already heading there, we (Paul) decided we should give them a ride. I was slightly worried that we'd be hijacked but they were a couple of kids - just out of high school from Israel - who are traveling for the next 4 months. It was flattering when they asked if we were on break from University.

We dropped Corinne and Adi off at the iSite (tourism information center) and checked into our room. After resting a bit, we took a nice walk around town (the Marina Walk), grabbed dinner at The Free House (a bar inside an old church) and called it a night since we had an early pick up for a day at Abel Tasman National Park.

The limit felt more like 2 people - it was wobbling quite a bit with just the two of us!

Saltwater Creek footbridge

I love these trees

We then headed over towards town
