Our last days in Malaysia

When we got back to Kuala Lumpur on April 2, we were tired but still made it to the (expacto) Petronas Twin Towers located in the KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Center)...which was basically another mall with a park. We tried to buy tickets to the top of the towers but they were sold out.

The next day, on April 3, we flew up to Penang where we were hoping to relax on the beach. We splurged and stayed at a resort for the 3 nights we were there but we didn't feel like it was worth it. Maybe we had enough of Malaysia at this point but between the bad service at the "resort" (I have resort in quotes because the service level is not quite up to par in my standards), the non-existent beach, and mediocre pool, we didn't have the motivation to do the usual touristy things around Penang and Georgetown.

I was hopeful when we first got to Penang

Ok, the pool isn't that mediocre but we could be at a hotel in Florida or Vegas

After a bad experience at the hotel restaurant, we headed off property and found a Hard Rock Cafe. Yes, another Hard Rock. Paul has never been to so many Hard Rock Cafes since traveling to Asia.

Do you remember the time that Paul punched you Michael (post-Thriller)?

We flew back to KL on April 6 for one last night before heading back to Singapore. Are you asking yourself why we took 2 extra days to travel from Penang to KL to Singapore only to fly to Phuket? When we could have just flew from Penang to Phuket? Good question! We asked ourselves the very same question. The thing is, we're making it up as we go and we thought it made sense to fly in and out of Singapore while taking a quick bus ride into Malaysia. Let's just say that next time, we'll do it differently.

Our last night in KL was special. After the short 1 hour flight, we had to take a 1 hour bus from the airport to the central bus station and then walk about 15 minutes in the heat to the monorail. After the monorail ride, we were given very sketchy directions to get to our hostel. Walking around in the heat with a 30 pound pack on your back and 10 pound pack in front searching for a hostel at 9pm was not what I imagined our last night would be like. Especially since we hadn't eaten. We finally found the place after asking about 5 people who all gave us different directions but by that time, it was about 9:30pm.

2 things - 1) Kenny Roger Roasters and 2) How sweaty is Paul's back?

We wanted to eat here but they didn't take credit cards and we were out of Ringitt

The only regret I have is that we didn't read the cover of the tourist pamphlet given to us in Penang more closely until it was too late.
